Dr. John Laftsidis, D.D.S.

John has been practicing General Dentistry since 1992. He is an alumnus of Northwestern University Dental School and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois, where he majored in Biology and Psychology. With over 30 years of experience, John has been dedicated to delivering dental care to patients of all ages.

John was also a service provider for Dental Lifeline Network (formerly the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped), which provides comprehensive dental treatment & long-term preventative services to needy, disabled, elderly or medically compromised individuals. He has also taken great pride in offering dental services at Little Angels in Elgin, Illinois, a home dedicated to children and young adults facing severe disabilities and complex medical needs.

John continues to be on staff at Swedish Hospital, providing dental care to emergency room patients, inpatient dental care, and screening and care for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.

He has completed many postgraduate courses in general and specialized dental procedures and enjoys restoring and enhancing smiles and dentofacial esthetics with dental veneers, crowns, Botox, implant dentistry, orthodontics, and root canal treatments. He is thrilled to welcome new patients, making them part of our dental practice.

Giving each patient their individual and unique path to achieve the outcome they seek. For some, that is simply to maintain good oral health and a stable, functional dentition. For others, that is seeking the lifestyle change and confidence that cosmetic dentistry can provide. In all patients, it is also paramount to maintain the importance of the oral/systemic whole-body dynamic that healthcare has acknowledged. From the simplest to the most complex dental cases, I strive to provide each patient's goals in a caring, professional, and compassionate environment.

FAQs

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept most PPO-insured patients and offer Care Credit, in-house concierge payment plan, in addition to cash and credit cards.

  • I'm sensitive to pain, can you help?

Our friendly staff provides compassionate and attentive patient care and is focused on your comfort. Nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and pain-reducing injection methods are available.

  • Am I too old for orthodontic treatment?

No, you probably are not.  Ortho treatment is based on bone remodeling to move teeth into a new position.  Bone remodeling occurs at all ages, so age is not a limiting factor.  However, if there are underlying conditions such as periodontal disease, bone disorders, or healing disorders, they may prohibit treatment in addition to age.

  • Which is better: Braces or clear aligners?

Both can achieve desired alignment.  Each method has its own advantages.  Treatment time variations, patient compliance discipline, hygiene effectiveness, and degree of misalignment are factors that would be discussed in deciding what is best for you.

  • What are the restrictions or guidelines for those undergoing orthodontic treatment?

    • Braces = more dietary restrictions.
    • Aligners can be removed for eating, making them more comfortable and less visible.
    • Braces require more diligent hygiene.
    • Braces may be the only option for severe malocclusions.
